Tea Party poll: Majority of voters expect spending will create double-digit tax increases

When asked about the potential of a tax hike of 20 percent or more, 58 percent of Republicans, 50 percent of independents, and 18 percent of Democrats were concerned. 

The poll also found that 55 percent of likely voters support the Tea Party movement. Thirty-nine percent of these respondents publicly support the movement, which is up from 35 percent on Aug. 22 and 33 percent on Aug. 15. 

The survey tapped the opinions of 1,000 likely voters and was conducted by Pulse Opinion Research on Aug. 29.
