The Senate confirmed Karen Dynan to serve as the Treasury Department’s next secretary of economic policy Thursday.
Dynan was confirmed by a voice vote, and now will lead the Treasury’s efforts to track the economy. She previously served as a vice president and economic expert for the Brookings Institution, and before that spent 17 years at the Federal Reserve.
Wyden’s panel approved Dynan’s nominated back in February, and the president tapped her for the position in August.
At that time, Lew said she was a “world-class economist whose skills and background will be of tremendous benefit to the president and me.”
Now confirmed, Dynan will fill the spot previously occupied by Janice Eberly, who stepped down from the spot in April 2013.
