Wal-Mart hires ex-Bush White House aide

“Wal-Mart is in a unique position to make a difference in the lives of millions of people around the world. I am honored and excited to be part of that,” Bartlett said.

Bartlett was president and CEO of the U. S. arm of Hill+Knowlton Strategies before coming to the retailer.

Before that, Bartlett was a senior counselor to President George W. Bush. He was a close aide to the former president, having worked for Bush as far back as his 1994 campaign for governor of Texas.

Bartlett will be moving with his family to Wal-Mart’s home state of Arkansas
