Private-sector employment increased across all nine U.S. regions in June, another indication that jobs growth is happening around the country.
Six states — California, Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois — accounted for more than half of the 188,000 jobs added to payrolls last month as growth tracked across all the Census Bureau regions, according to the ADP Regional Employment Report released on Wednesday.
"All 29 individual U.S. states, plus the District of Columbia, tracked by the , also recorded gains of varying degrees in June, with the largest job increases occurring in California, Texas, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania and Illinois," said Ahu Yildirmaz, senior director of the ADP Research Institute.
Three regions — South Atlantic (36,000), Pacific (33,000) and West South Central (29,000) — led the way for the second straight month as the labor market undergoes a slow and steady improvement.
