The House Appropriations Committee will hold a hearing Tuesday morning on the fiscal 2011 budget and the economic outlook.
Peter Orszag, director, Office of Management and Budget, Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and Christina Romer, chairwoman, Council of Economic Advisers.
On March 11, Orszag wrote on his OMBlog that the House "announced a major step forward in earmark reform, banning earmarks that go to for-profit companies."
House Appropriations Chairman David Obey (D-Wis.) said the House would post every earmark request on one Web site, which Orszag said "will help to reduce abuses and bring more transparency to earmarks."
OMB also announced last week that all earmarks from the 2009 and 2010 appropriations bills will be made available to the public at http://earmarks.gov, Orszag said. The earmarks for 2009 are available now and the 2010 information is set for release within a month.
