Energy and Commerce to take up malpractice bill next week

The House Energy and Commerce Committee plans to mark up a medical malpractice bill next week.

Opening statements on the bill are scheduled for Tuesday morning and the markup will resume at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to a schedule released by the committee.

The bill would cap non-economic damages at $250,000 and set a stature of limitations for malpractice suits.
