CMS launches campaign to promote O-Care

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services launched a public campaign website Monday to promote benefits under the new healthcare law.

CMS says the campaign titled, “From Coverage to Care,” is meant to answer questions consumers may have about their new health coverage and help them make the most of their new benefits.

The website includes downloadable booklets and YouTube videos in English and Spanish explaining various aspects of the Affordable Care Act.

A key part of the campaign is a booklet titled, “A Roadmap to Better Care and a Healthier You,” which contains and eight-step process to inform consumers and health care providers about the benefits available.

“This roadmap walks you through a step-by-step guide on what having health insurance means, how to use your card, and how to set up your first visit with a health care provider such as a doctor or a nurse practitioner,” said the agency. “It also provides information on what to expect during that first visit, what to look for in a provider that works for you and your needs, and how to keep up regular health care visits.”

The guide also provides information clarifying healthcare coverage terms, and the difference between getting primary care versus emergency care.
