Obama has benefitted from a sizable gender gap throughout the campaign, driven in part by Democrats' relentless attacks defending Planned Parenthood and the administration's contraception mandate. But a Pew Research Center poll last week showed Romney making enormous gains with female voters.
Romney has also tacked to the center — at least rhetorically — on abortion, an issue where he has faced persistent accusations of changing his position.
The Obama campaign's ad says "women need to know the real Mitt Romney."
The ad, called "Decision," will run in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia, the Obama campaign said.
