DLA Piper adds healthcare lobbyist with administration, congressional ties

Before that, she worked in the oversight and CHIP departments of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), forging connections at the White House, the Department of Health and Services and with CMS officials.

“Krista is an experienced legislative and regulatory strategist, having spent 15 years in health policy at all levels of government,” said Mary Langowski, the chair of the firm’s health care public policy and regulatory group, in a statement.

Drobac will act as a policy advisor for DLA Piper's health care public policy and regulatory group, in addition to working in the government affairs practice. The firm's clients in the health sector include the National Association of Community Health Centers, AdvaMed: Advanced Medical Technology Association, the American Council of Life Insurers and the health insurance giant Aetna. It earned more than $9 million in federal lobbying revenue in 2012.

She has experience on the state regulatory level, working to help Illinois set up its electronic exchange for health information and pay-for-performance rules. She also spent give years on the Hill, advising Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) and Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) on health issues.
