Manufacturers: Obama, Congress under pressure to get tough on China

The majority of trade-centered TV advertising in all five campaigns put the spotlight on China, the alliance said. In the Wisconsin and Indiana Senate races, China was the focus of all TV ads about trade. In the Pennsylvania Senate race, it was the focus of all Republican advertising discussing trade. And in the Ohio Senate race, the “vast majority” of trade-related advertising — all of which was aired by Democrats — focused on China.

While Obama did not vow to label China a currency manipulator, as Romney did, the alliance said manufacturers and blue-collar workers expect the White House and lawmakers to live up to the tough talk from the campaign.

“The only question now, after all the hundreds of millions that have been spent, is whether the winning candidates will follow through on their promises. Voters will be watching for action,” said Paul.
