Kerry in France to talk war in Syria, Mali

Kerry has expressed support for an end to the European embargo even as the Obama administration continues to oppose providing U.S. arms out of concern that they could end up in the hands of Islamist militants.

“President Obama has made it clear that the United States does not stand in the way of other countries that have made a decision to provide arms, whether it's France or Britain or others,” Kerry told reporters after meeting with Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr last week in Washington.

Kerry's stop in France is the sixth stop on a trip that has taken him to Israel, Jordan and the West Bank with President Obama and then on to Iraq and Afghanistan by himself.
