US diplomats' families allowed to return to Beirut after Syria strike canceled

The situation in Lebanon remains volatile, however, and U.S. citizens are urged to avoid all travel to the country because of safety and security concerns.

“The potential in Lebanon for a spontaneous upsurge in violence remains,” the State Department travel warning states. “Lebanese government authorities are not able to guarantee protection for citizens or visitors to the country should violence erupt suddenly.”
