Twitter mistakes by lawmakers, candidates and their staffers now have a place to live on in infamy: "the political tweet hall of shame."
New York Magazine published a slide show on Thursday of politicians' famously embarrassing tweets, leading with a comment from Rep. Joe Barton's (R-Texas) account that said "Joe Barton Was Right" regarding his apology to BP about the Gulf oil spill.
"Soon after Texas congressman Joe Barton apologized to his GOP colleagues for embarrassing them by backing BP during the oil spill, he — or his spokesman, who later took responsibility — tweeted this message linking to an article defending Joe Barton, which kind of makes the apology less effective," the magazine explains.
Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), Alaska Senate candidate Joe Miller, the National Republican Congressional Committee and 10 others also made the list.
