Sen. Herb Kohl (D-Wis.), the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee's antitrust subpanel, applauded the Justice Department for filing to block AT&T's acquisition of T-Mobile on Wednesday.
“We applaud the Justice Department for their action to protect consumers in a powerful and growing industry that reaches virtually every American," Kohl said in a statement. "Preserving choices means ensuring competition, and competition ultimately benefits consumers."
Kohl urged the Justice Department as well as the Federal Communications Commission to block the merger in a letter last month. He said the deal would harm competition and lead to higher prices for consumers.
