DOJ investigating e-book industry

Sharis Pozen, chief of the Justice Department's antitrust division, told lawmakers on Wednesday that her office has launched a probe into whether the electronic book industry is engaging in anti-competitive behavior.

"We are also investigating the electronic book industry along with the European Commission and with states' attorneys general," Pozen told the House Judiciary Committee, Reuters reports.

The news agency notes the European Commission is investigating whether e-book publishers have engaged in price fixing while making their books available on Apple's iPad tablet computer.
