Lawmakers, citizens react to the State of the Union via social media

Both lawmakers and potential voters reacted to President Obamas State of the Union address via social media sites.

More than three-quarters of a million tweets mentioned the speech Tuesday night, and 548 were from members of Congress.


The highest volume of tweets came after the presidents spilled milkjoke, when traffic hit 14,131 tweets per minute.

The top trending topics were education, energy, jobs, fairness and manufacturing.

On Facebook, users reacted the most to posts by GOP Reps. Michele Bachmann (Minn.), Paul Ryan (Wis.) and Jason Chaffetz (Utah) and Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) about the speech.

The keywords most commonly mentioned by lawmakers were the budget, jobs, hope, together, work, bipartisan, energy, economy, war and Iraq.
