News bites: Dish's Ergen takes swipe at SoftBank

Facebook's profit rose in the first-quarter of this year as its mobile ad sales jumped 22 percent from the previous quarter, The Wall Street Journal reports. 

Dish Network Chairman Charlie Ergen took a swipe at Japan's SoftBank in a recent interview, saying Dish's American roots gives the company an advantage in its bidding war for Sprint, Reuters writes.  

The Department of Defense will grant security approvals for Samsung and Apple devices in the coming weeks, according to The Wall Street Journal
