Fried is headed to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), Politico reported.
"Neil really understands how the Internet provides economic opportunity for content creators. He's been a strong voice for an innovative Internet, free of censorship and government regulation. MPAA is lucky to have him," said Michael Beckerman, CEO of the Internet Association and former deputy staff director for Upton on the Energy and Commerce Committee.
The MPAA declined to comment.
Noelle Clemente has also joined the House Energy and Commerce Committee's press team, Upton said. Clemente previously served as press secretary for Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.) and will join the committee from the American Action Forum.
