News bites: Samsung shifts focus to software

Samsung is focusing more energy on its software acquisitions, including through purchasing startups, according to The Wall Street Journal.

The New York Times discusses the rise in "instant gratification" shopping, including a partnership between MasterCard and Condé Nast that will allow Condé Nast readers to instantly purchase products in its magazines, to be announced Tuesday.

Adblock Plus has accepted 9.5 percent of online advertisers that apply to be "whitelisted" and does not whitelist ads that come with tracking, VentureBeat reports.

Beats will unveil its new music streaming service in the coming months, according to The Next Web.
