Google to sell Facebook ads

“Starting in a few months, clients will be able to buy inventory on FBX via DoubleClick Bid Manager,” Google’s cross-Web ad purchasing tool, which had previously been shut out from ad purchasing on FBX.

In the post, Payam Shodjai, senior product manager of Google’s DoubleClick, said DoubleClick Bid Manager “has been helping agencies and advertisers buy ad space on sites across the web for years,” and the availability of FBX ads will help the company “to serve our clients even better.”

Jeffrey Chester, executive director of the Center for Digital Democracy, said the combined forces of the two data giants could be problematic.

“Regulators will need to closely examine how the two leading data targeting companies will pool their data, creating new privacy and consumer risks,” he said.
