House extends satellite license, Senate to vote tomorrow

Congress could have until March to come up with a bill to reauthorize distant signal license for satellite companies. The original deadline was Dec. 31, when the Satellite Home Viewer Act expires.

The House passed a 60-day extension as part of the defense reauthorization bill Wednesday. If the Senate also passes the defense bill, which is scheduled for a vote tomorrow morning, legislators will have an additional two months to agree on a standalone bill.

A standalone bill passed the House but not the Senate.
