DC Metro: Rail ridership down 54 percent in snow storm

The Washington, D.C., Metrorail subway system said its ridership was down 54 percent on Tuesday afternoon compared to the same time last week as snow fell in the nation’s capital city.

The transit system, which services the Capitol and most federal agencies, revealed the ridership info in a tweet on Tuesday afternoon.

The agency said its trains and buses would keep running until the metropolitan Washington area reached eight inches of snow.  The Metro has said that it might modify its schedules if the inclement weather continues.
