Cargo ship sinks after mid-sea collision

A Chinese cargo ship has sunk after colliding with another vessel near Hong Kong, according to multiple reports. 

The ship, which was known as the Zhong Xing 2, collided with a Marshall Islands-registered cargo vessel known as the MOL Motivator. 

The Wall Street Journal reported that made contact in the early morning Monday and the Chinese ship later sank. 

Eleven people who were on board the Zhong Xing 2 are now missing, according to the report. 

The paper said the Chinese ship was 97 meters long. The vessel it collided with, which was able to continue under its own power, was 302 meters long.
