NTSB investigating near collision at Newark airport

A pair of airplanes came close to colliding with each other at Newark, N.J.’s Liberty International Airport, CNN reports.

The airplanes were attempting to take off and land on a pair of intersecting runways, according to the report.

The two jets came within 50 yards of each before air traffic controllers directed the landing plane to abort its attempt and circle the airport.

None of the passengers that were on board either plane were injured, and neither aircraft suffered any damage, the report said.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is investigating the incident.
