Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will speak Monday at the National League of Cities (NLC) conference in Washington.
LaHood will be joined at the conference on Monday by Labor Secretary Hilda Solis and former Democratic and Republican party chairmen Terry McAuliffe and Ed Gillespie. Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.) will be among the speakers at the NLC conference on Tuesday.
Organizers have said the conference will "focus on investing in transportation and infrastructure improvements," with sessions concentrating on "integrating transportation, housing and sustainability; federal and local tools for water and transportation financing and creating jobs through infrastructure."
Secretary LaHood is scheduled to speak to the NLC conference Monday at 3:45 p.m. His remarks will come amid a push in both chambers of Congress to pass a new spending bill for transportation projects ahead of a March 31 expiration date for the current version of the authorization measure.
