Bus industry seeks to capitalize on northeast rail delays

"Until these services are back to 100 percent, bustripping is helping travelers find alternative options," the website continued. "One-way bus tickets from New York to Boston are currently priced as low as $18 each way, departing from both New York and Boston on Monday and Tuesday."

The New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), which operates Metro-North, has attributed the delays on the Connecticut railway to a “continuing Con Ed power outage to a crucial 8-mile segment of the New Haven Line.”

Both Metro North and Amtrak have said they are operating trains on the New Haven on a reduced schedule until the electricity problem is fixed.
