Labor board hires union official for spokesman

King previously served at the assistant director for communications with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the country's largest public sector union.

He has worked in communications roles for more than 30 years and previously worked for the American Federation of Teachers and the Human Rights Campaign. He also worked for two members of Congress and spent time in the Justice Department's public affairs office.

King attended George Washington University and the London School of Economics.

In 2011, he was awarded the Thoth Award for Excellence in Public Relations by the Public Relations Society of America.
