New regs for Thursday: Fishing and water safety

No public federal agency meetings will be announced, and just one other notice will be published. That’s from the Federal Reserve, which is publishing a two-page announcement about the transfer of bank shares.

There are normally dozens of notices like that published each day, which formally notify the public about a number of actions.

One of the new regulations will create a temporary safety zone over a mile and a half of the Tennessee River, to prepare for a boat race.

The other regulation was first unveiled earlier this week. It will prevent directed fishing for herring in a region of the Atlantic to prevent overfishing.

According to the National Marine Fisheries Service, which is issuing the rule, about 92 percent of the limit for herring in the area have been caught.
