We are seeking a Communications Director to develop and implement strategies to drive broader awareness of NAAHL through digital platforms, to position NAAHL as a credible and primary industry voice, and to manage regular communications to members. This position will also have responsibility for data and research projects in collaboration with industry partners.

• Develop and manage NAAHL’s communications and social media strategies for daily use and events, including the annual conference
• Manage NAAHL’s website and social media accounts to increase engagement and visibility of NAAHL as a national voice in the industry
• Work with leadership to identify communications opportunities and determine and execute appropriate solutions
• Build and maintain relationships with media contacts to ensure coverage of NAAHL programs, policy recommendations, events, and other activities
• Write and edit external communications (press releases, blogs, editorials, letters to the editor, memos, media advisories, website copy, etc.) and internal communications (including daily e-newsletter); assist leadership with speeches and presentations
• Direct research initiatives that provide pertinent information and statistics to members and other industry experts
• Assist in the planning of NAAHL’s annual conference and other events
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, political science, marketing, or related discipline
• 3+ years of communications experience with preferred emphasis on digital strategy and media relations
• Experience or interest in affordable housing policy
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe products
• Firm understanding and experience with social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.)
• Strong knowledge of internet best practices and standards
