The U.S.-U.A.E. Trade and Investment Relationship 2009 Update
Summary: The United States and the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.) enjoy a robust trade and investment relationship. Moreover, this has been one of the fastest growing U.S. economic partnerships in the world. The volume of U.S. exports and foreign direct investment into the U.A.E. in recent years has grown dramatically and far greater than the comparable figures for the world as a whole. This growth reflects the torrid pace of recent U.A.E economic growth, the increasingly diversified U.A.E. economy, and its leading role as a modernizing influence in the Arab world. The depth of the commercial friendship and cooperation is reflected in the path-breaking nuclear energy agreement between the U.S. and the U.A.E. signed in January 2009.
