2009 Holiday Guide

There’s magic in the air. It’s the Jingle Bells ringing in your head, and the Silent Night serenely reminding you that Christmas is near.

For 86 years now, the United States has lit a National Christmas Tree here in the District. Always a festive spectacle, on a breezy, chilly evening this year was no different. “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson hosted the event. “Idol” winner Jordin Sparks, 19, Grammy winner Sheryl Crow and rapper Common joined singer-songwriter Ray LaMontagne and the group Celtic Woman on stage for a holiday celebration.

The Hay-Adams

The Hay-Adams has dozens of Christmas trees and every mantel seems to be covered in holly and glass bulbs. The hotel also is making D.C. office-dwellers well aware of holiday party options.
