What is Rep. Robert Andrews (D-N.J.) eating?
Posted: 06/15/07 06:30 PM [ET]
Coffee or tea?
Coffee, black decaf coffee. I gave up caffeine four years ago. I was hitting that 4 o’clock wall every afternoon.

Favorite place to power-lunch?
Members Dining Room, I guess. I rarely sit down for a formal lunch.

Favorite D.C. restaurant?
The Palm. I like the steaks.

Food you can’t live without?
Chicken. I eat chicken four or five times a week. I love it.

Favorite pig-out food?
Pretzels. Sometimes with cheese or mustard.

Have you ever had food poisoning?
Yes. I ate some food that wasn’t refrigerated properly, probably at a wedding or somewhere where food was sitting out. Nothing really serious.

If you could invite five people to dinner (not loved ones), who would they be?
Bill Gates, Tony Blair; my daughter’s manager, Stacy Abrams — she’s a child actress, 12 years old; congressman John Lewis (D-Ga.), a fascinating person; Terry McAuliffe.

Any food allergies?
I don’t think so. You never know for sure.

Sweet or salty?
Salty.

What food can you not stomach?
There’s really nothing. I’ve been raised to try everything. Of course I don’t like brussels sprouts as much as fried onions.

What’s your cooking specialty?
I make omelets for my wife and [my two] daughters on the weekend.
