•STATE: Bush nominated William Wood to be ambassador to Afghanistan. The president has nominated John Negroponte to be deputy secretary. The president nominated Ryan Crocker to be ambassador to Iraq. Secretary Condoleezza Rice named Undersecretary for Democracy and Global Affairs Paula Dobriansky to be special envoy on Northern Ireland.
•TREASURY: Secretary Henry Paulson named Kimberly Reed to be director of the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund.
•UNITED STATES AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Bush nominated Paul Bonicelli to be assistant administrator. The president named Douglas Menarchik acting assistant administrator for Europe and Eurasia pending Senate consideration of his nomination for the post. |
