•White House: President Bush has named Jean Staton Mamo deputy assistant to the president and director of media affairs. Prior to this, she served as special assistant to the president and director of media affairs.
The president picked Joel Bagnal to be deputy assistant to the president for homeland security. Bagnal previously served as special assistant to the president for homeland security.
Martin E. McGuinness is the president’s choice for special assistant to the president for legislative affairs. Prior to this, McGuinness served as senior manager at Washington Council Ernst & Young. The president has named Michael Y. Scudder Jr. as associate counsel to the president. Scudder previously served as counsel to the deputy attorney general in the Department of Justice.
•Department of Defense: Army Col. Stephen L. Jones is being promoted to the rank of brigadier general. He is currently serving as command surgeon, U.S. Army Cadet Command, Fort Monroe, Va.
Brig. Gen. Robert R. Allardice will be commander, Coalition Air Force Transition Team, Air Combat Command, Baghdad, Iraq. He currently serves as director of Airman Development and Sustainment and deputy chief of staff for Manpower and Personnel at U.S. Air Force headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Brig. Gen. Floyd L. Carpenter is slated to replace Allardice. Carpenter currently is deputy director, National Systems Operations, J-3, Joint Staff, at the Pentagon. |
