Laying out his jobs plan to Congress on Thursday evening, President Obama said, “Those of us here tonight can’t solve all our nation’s woes. Ultimately our recovery will be driven not by Washington, but by our businesses and our workers — but we can help.”
Obama said his bill, the American Jobs Act, should be uncontroversial and contains ideas supported by both Democrats and Republicans.
The proposal is designed to “put people back to work,” Obama said, promising “everything in this bill will be paid for — everything.”
