First Dog Bo wears bunny ears, lays eggs

By Geneva Sands - 03/02/12 01:26 PM ET

It wouldn't be a White House Easter Egg Roll without the participation of the beloved first dog Bo.

The Portuguese Water Dog is featured walking around 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., wearing pink bunny ears in the official White House video announcement of the lottery for the egg-filled festivities.

Not to be upstaged by a chicken, the black-and-white canine lays an egg in honor of the upcoming event. A red egg adorned with a picture of the dog is revealed in the video when Bo stands up.

Bo then appears to be doting over faux green, red, yellow, purple and blue eggs in the White House.

"There will be games, stories, singing, dancing AND Easter eggs," says the text in the video.

The 134th annual egg roll is open to the public through a lottery system, which closes Monday, March 5, at 10:00 a.m.

A souvenir egg will be given to all children under 13 years old in attendance at the event, which takes place on the South Lawn of the White House April 9.

The theme for this year's occasion will be to promote health and wellness in conjunction with Michelle Obama's "Let's Move!" initiative, a campaign she has taken around the country for the past two years.

And no, this isn't the first time Bo has strutted his stuff for a White House event. The first dog was one of the main features in last year's Christmas decorations. Designers created five Bo replicas to deck out his world famous digs.
