President Obama tweeted a picture of himself throwing a football at Soldier Field in Chicago on Monday, along with a nod to the popular book and television show Friday Night Lights.
“Clear eyes, full hearts,” the tweet said.
In the show, which completed its five-season run in 2011, the fictional small-town Texas football team’s motto is: “Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.”
The tv series, never a blockbuster, was a critical success, winning a number of awards and picking up a small but committed base of followers. The show was based on the 1990 nonfiction book Friday Night Lights: A Town, A Team, And a Dream by Buzz Bissinger.
Obama is in Chicago for the NATO summit.
