Obama tells crowd 'mint' is his favorite Girl Scout cookie

By Geneva Sands - 07/16/12 03:56 PM ET

President Obama opened up about his favorite Girl Scout cookie on the campaign trail in Cincinnati Monday — and may have sparked some cookie backlash in the process.

"What's your favorite girl scout cookie?" asked a young Girl Scout member in the crowd during a town hall question-and-answer session.

"This is one of the toughest questions ... I've got to say that I'm pretty partial to those mint [cookies]," said Obama to shouts from the audience.

The crowd yelled back, and apparently one audience member disagreed with the president's sugary preference.

"That's just me. I didn't mean to create controversy here," Obama said laughing. "Did you hear? There was someone booing. What was your choice? Who was booing up there?"

Despite the differing opinion, the president stuck to his Thin Mints guns.

"I'm going with the mint," he said.

Thin Mints are the "most enduring and universally familiar" of Girl Scout cookies, according to the Girl Scout website.
