President Obama tweets support for Sandy relief during concert

By Geneva Sands - 12/13/12 02:19 PM ET

The White House tweeted out a Web video and urged followers to help victims of Hurricane Sandy in support of the 12-12-12 concert for storm relief Wednesday night.

"When a storm hits, there are no strangers, only neighbors helping neighbors, communities rallying to rebuild, leaders working to fix what's broken, Americans driven by a spirit that says we're all in this together as one nation and one people," said Obama in the video posted on YouTube.

The fundraising concert at Madison Square Garden in New York City aired in prime time Wednesday and included performances from The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Paul McCartney, Alicia Keys, Kanye West and Billy Joel.

Obama praised the service of first-responders and volunteers and pledged to support rebuilding efforts.

"And you can still help, right now and I want everyone effected by the storm to know this: you are not alone. We will recover, we will rebuild, we will come back stronger together. That's my promise as your president," concluded Obama in his video message.
