President Obama will deliver remarks at 12:30 p.m. at the House Democratic Issues Conference in Lansdowne, Va., where Democrats have gathered for a three-day retreat.
Vice President Biden addressed Democratic lawmakers at the retreat on Wednesday. Former President Clinton, and International Monetary Fund Managing Director Christine Lagarde are also participating in the conference.
Obama also spoke this week with Senate Democrats in Annapolis, Md., as he reaches out to members of his own party ahead of contentious fights over the budget, immigration reform and gun control.
“He understands that these issues are difficult, that achieving them will not be easy, but he is committed to pressing forward on them and to enlisting the support of lawmakers in both the House and the Senate of both parties in the effort,” Carney said on Wednesday of the president's outreach efforts.
