Michelle Obama surprises at Oscars

In what’s believed to be an Academy Award first, Michelle Obama presented the Best Picture award at Sunday’s annual ceremony.

Wearing a sparkling silver Naeem Khan gown, the first lady appeared live in the surprise cameo from the White House via satellite to name “Argo” as the winner of Hollywood’s most prestigious honor.

After being introduced by veteran actor Jack Nicholson, Obama said of the nine Best Picture nominees, “They reminded us that we can overcome any obstacle if we dig deep enough, and fight hard enough, and find the courage to believe in ourselves.”
