Watch live: White House news briefing

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will take questions from reporters on Wednesday afternoon.

The news briefing comes as the Trump administration continues to clarify and defend the president's controversial summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Helsinki.

Trump sparked an uproar at a news conference on Monday when he said the U.S. shares the blame for strained relations with Russia and appeared to accept Putin’s denial of election interference, despite the assessment from U.S. intelligence agencies.

On Tuesday, Trump said he accepted the intelligence community's assessment, but added that "other people" could have been involved.

The briefing is scheduled for 2 p.m.
