Rep. Rangel crashes Perry event in Harlem

Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) unexpectedly showed up to an event for Texas Gov. Rick Perry, a GOP presidential hopeful, in Harlem on Monday.

The governor was scheduled to meet with local business leaders at Pappasito's Bar when Rangel turned up and startled reporters waiting for Perry, reported CBS News.

The long-time Democrat, who represents Harlem, told reporters he had "no idea it was a Republican event."

"I understand one of the community leaders has invited a distinguished guest to my city and more specifically my congressional district," said Rangel.

When asked what he thought about Perry, he responded: "I think that the Republicans have a major problem with their candidates."

"Including Governor Perry?" the reporter asked.

"You bet your life," Rangel said.
