Giuliani endorses George Allen for Senate in Web video

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani endorsed Republican candidate George Allen for U.S. Senate in Virginia in a video posted Tuesday.

"The United States and Virginia are facing some of the most difficult times in several generations. It's a time when we really need leadership, experienced leadership, people who understand what's at stake, understand our economy, understand how to create jobs and build jobs, and there's nobody better for doing that than George Allen," said Giuliani.

Giuliani praised Allen's experience as a senator and governor, and said Allen helped revitalize the economy in Virginia and the United States.

He derided the Democratic National Committee for its support of Allen's main opponent, former Gov. Tim Kaine (D).

The former governors agreed today to participate in their first debate in the race, on Dec. 7 at the annual Associated Press Day at the Capitol in Richmond, sponsored by Virginia AP managing editors and the Virginia Capitol Correspondents Association, reported the Virginian-Pilot.
