Santorum: End of 'Don't ask, don't tell' will deter recruitment

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum said ending the military's "Don't ask, don't tell" policy will hurt recruitment and lead some soldiers to leave the armed forces.

In Friday comments that reiterated his position from Thursday's GOP debate, Santorum, a former Pennsylvania Republican senator best known for his conservative social views, said he would "absolutely" return the military to the "Don't ask, don't tell" policy.

"The men and women who sign up for the military are now going to be placed in very difficult and very uncomfortable personal situations," said Santorum on Fox News's "Fox and Friends" Friday.

"There is no role for playing sexual experimentation games in the United States military. This is about securing our country," he said.
