The Democratic National Committee launched a new Web ad attacking
Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney's position on cutting the
payroll tax.
"President Obama's payroll tax cut would save American families over
$1,500 a year. That's four months of groceries, over seven months of
gasoline, an electric bill for an entire year. So what does Mitt
Romney call saving $1,500 a year? Temporary little Band-Aids," says
the ad.
The video focuses on the Bloomberg/Washington Post GOP debate Tuesday
night, where Romney said he would prefer a permanent solution to the
tax code rather than the temporary payroll tax reduction proposed in
President Obama's jobs plan.
Democrats have been using his debate response in ads and commentary to
portray Romney as being anti-middle-class.
Romney's campaign released its own Web ad Friday claiming the Obama
team is growing nervous about facing the former Massachusetts governor
in 2012.
