Perry thinks ‘Live free or die’ is cool slogan

Texas Gov. Rick Perry worked himself up Friday in praising New Hampshire’s state motto of “Live free or die.”

“This is such cool state. I mean, come on, ‘Live free or die.’ I mean, you got to love that, right?” Perry said in comments captured in an approximately eight-minute video uploaded to YouTube on Saturday.

The video features an edited version of Perry’s speech on Friday in Manchester, N.H., and gained traction on blogs and in the media over the weekend.

“I come from a state you know where they had this little place called the Alamo where they declared 'victory or death.' You know we’re kind of into those slogans, man,” Perry said.

“It’s like ‘Live free or die’ — ‘Victory or death,’ bring it,” Perry said.

Asked about the comments by The Huffington Post, Perry’s campaign said: “The Governor is passionate about the issues he talks about.”
