Perry: Lawmakers who commit insider trading 'should be sent to jail'

By Cameron Joseph - 11/14/11 06:32 PM ET

Rick Perry is calling for any lawmaker who commits insider trading to "be sent to jail, period" in a new web video put out by his campaign on Monday.

The Texas governor appears to be responding to a Sunday report on "60 Minutes" that accused lawmakers, including House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), of participating in insider trading.

"Congress certainly can't be trusted to watch our money, and now it's clear they can't be trusted with theirs," Perry says in the video. "Any congressman or senator who uses their insider knowledge to profit off the stock market should be sent to jail, period. And Congress ought to pass a law that says so, right now, no ifs, ands or buts."
