Responding to an attack on his past support for health insurance mandates, Mitt Romney made a surprising offer to Rick Perry during the Iowa GOP debate on Saturday: a $10,000 bet on who was right.
Perry, the Texas governor, accused Romney of deleting parts of his book that said he supported mandates for individuals to buy health insurance.
"You've raised that before…" Romney said. Perry agreed and said the claim was still true.
"Rick, I'll tell you what… $10,000 bet?" Romney responded.
"I'm not in the bettin' business, but I'll show you the book," Perry said.
"I've got the book," Romney said ending the exchange.
