Bachmann’s former Iowa campaign chairman says conversation about money ‘never happened’

Later in the interview with CNN, Sorensen defended his position, saying that when he was running for state office the only backing he received was from Paul and his current supporters.

“There was one group of people that came to my aid and helped put me over the top and that was people that’s helping on the Ron Paul campaign. And then when I was going into my 2010 Senate race it was a very tough race and I can’t think of anybody that helped more than the Ron Paul people. Ron Paul himself came out and did three fundraisers for me.”

Although awkward, Sorensen said, joining the Paul campaign “felt like I was coming back to part of my family.”
